Nadia Chavka

Nadia trained four years with many international trainers to become a Feldenkrais practitioner and she graduated in London. She is a full member of the UK Feldenkrais Professional Guild. She worked extensively with musicians and actors as well as people with MS- in which case the Feldenkrais method is much more efficient than many forms of physiotherapy and exercise.

Nadia is trained to address the manifestation of an inefficient movement pattern through the whole body-mind system. She can help not only with pain relief but more importantly she can teach her students alternative ways of movement that are more efficient and beneficial for musculoskeletal organisation in long term. The curious thing about the inefficient movement patterns is that they can hide as a habit and we might be fit, active and involved in many life activities for many years before those patterns manifest as joint wear and tear.

Nadia will guide you through a process that involves your abilities to sense, feel and think while moving. Both men and women love those classes as a way of not only becoming fitter but also developing quality body-mind intelligence. The lessons that Nadia has prepared for you, revolve around themes such as comfortable sitting for meditation, gravity can help you walk, floating arms.

Nadia will also offer individual consultations on demand.

Nadia is confident in addressing back, hip, neck and shoulder aches and chronic pain from sport or long term injuries.

The Feldenkrais Method® offers a unique and practical way to realise our potential more fully. It is an educational method focusing on learning and movement, which can bring about improved movement and enhanced functioning. It is named after its originator, Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984), an engineer and physicist as well as a Judo teacher.

Nadia is member of the Waverly Dowsers in Surry and studies the Art of Modern Wizardry.

Awareness Through Movement

The group Feldenkrais class is an engaging and pleasurable way to expand and refine your movement repertoire. All movements are done in a gentle and safe for you way. The transformative effects on your health and well-being are due to the attention paid to the quality of your ability to organize for movement. The creator of the method, Dr M. Feldenkrais, called these classes Awareness Through Movement (ATM). He wanted to show us how by replacing the mindless repetition of muscle toning exercises with lessons that relay on awareness, we can access new movement options. You will be guided through a number of movement variations and sequences that are based on developmental movement patterns and also explore everyday functional movements.The sequence of workshops which Nadia is offering you, will teach you how to relive tension and habitual holding patterns in some of the most common areas such as lower back, neck and shoulders. One of the workshops will be especially for those who practice yoga and meditation and would like to sit more comfortably cross-legged. One will explore some of the ways to get up and down from the floor. Nadia will be there with you to help you enjoy your discoveries and remind you of key ideas which, if applied to your ways of embodiment, will transform your capabilities. You will get the chance to create your own understanding of what is : Coordination Strength Balance Mobility Flexibility while exploring whole body movement patterns.
